My Experience

I worked for the Bloomington Bison professional hockey team starting in early spring of 2025 during their inaugural season. Located in Bloomington, Illinois, the Bison are the ECHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets. I spent the summer of 2025 with them as a community relations intern and was a social media intern until May of 2026 where I gained hands on experience with content creation, photography, live coverage, fast turn around, social media analytics and video editing.  On this page you will see what I have been able to work on as an intern with the Bison!

Social Media Internship Experience

Working in social media, specifically in sports, has always been my dream job. From a young age I have always been passionate about social media. I loved photo and video editing, but also the community that can form from it. When I was young I had a fan page for my favorite singer and loved engaging with people through it. I have also had a passion for sports. I was an athlete from the time I could walk and had the opportunity to play two years of college basketball. I'm working on turning my passions into a career.

Working in social media for the Bloomington Bison has been a dream. Below you will find projects I have gotten to work!!!

MEASURABLE
RESULTS

During a record breaking period, I edited and uploaded the image to the right in real time, including clips of each goal. It became one of the most viewed posts in Bison history with over a 675% increase in views!

3D BACKDROP

During the pre-season I was able to work with my supervisor and fellow intern on a 3D backdrop used on media day! This was created by first making individual graphics using Adobe Photoshop which were later turned into prints. Each print was put together using lots of tape and glue to create a giant collage on two giant pieces of cardboard. The end result is something we are very proud of and is now being displayed in Grossinger Motors Arena for fans to use.

OPENING NIGHT TICKET SALE ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO

I worked on a creative video to announce the release of opening night tickets going on sale. After capturing footage on a DSLR camera, I edited the clips together using Adobe PremierPro.

INSTAGRAM STORY OVERLAYS

I have been able to create Instagram story overlays using Adobe Photoshop. During games, I paste the overlays on to images and videos to post in real time on our social pages.

LIVE UPDATING AND SOCIAL MEDIA COVERAGE

Beginning in mid-January I was able to take over as Interim Social Media Director. During this time I had the responsibility of creating and posting game day graphics using Adobe Photoshop and Meta. I worked community events to capture content to be posted onto our social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, X, TikTok and LinkedIn.

On game days, I captured all pre-game content and posted it onto our channels. During the game, I live updated plays and scores on X and cut clips from the game to post using Magnifi. During intermissions I was on the ice getting content to post on stories! After the games, I then made my way down back to the ice to capture post-game interviews and autographs! Quick game days have given me excellent time management skills as well as the ability for quick turn around of content.

Getting this experience has been extremely rewarding and has reassured me that this is my passion and what I'm meant to do! One thing I love about game days and covering them is that you never know what can happen which makes posting so exciting!

To the left you will find some examples of posts I have made so far!
